Eating Out Hits Hormones Among Women, Teens and Children

Our ancestors never used to eat out. Even now many of our elders stay away from eating out. There is every reason to believe that our conservative principles are always right. Though there is a widespread agreement on this, eating out is increasing in our society thanks to increasing affluence, easy availability of fast food, growing a habit of eating out and now, the availability of food delivery services.

One more research has proved that eating out is perilous to our health as it hits our hormones. Too much of fast food is the reason. According to the research, fast food may expose the people to Phthalates which are used in food packaging and processing. Phthalate is a salt of Phthalic acid, added to plastics to increase their flexibility, transparency, durability, and longevity.

Pregnant women, children and teens are more vulnerable to the ill effects of Phthalates, which are linked to fertility problems, pregnancy complications and other health issues like asthma, breast cancer& type-2 diabetes.

The study which was published in Environment International journal found that adolescents who were high consumers of outside food had 55% higher levels of Phthalates compared to those who consumed food at home only. The association between Phthalate exposure and dining out was found to be stronger among young people.

So, Youngsters, Young families, children and teens…Develop the habit of cooking the variety that you get outside. Take the mantra of ‘Home food…every day and every time’..I am assuming that elders would anyway avoid eating out.
